How does ‘Raise To Speak’ For Siri Works?

In the iPhone 4S, Siri was the most look forwarding feature. It’s a voice personal assistant that does more things than the previous iPhones do.

If you’ve meddled with Settings for Siri, which I am certain you did, otherwise you wouldn’t have turned on Siri – off by default. You would’ve notice a toggle option called ‘Raise To Talk’. After you’ve turned it on, you’ve tried whether it truly works.

If you’ve tried it, chances are high that you’ll be thinking that your iPhone is faulty. Sometimes Siri doesn’t appear, sometimes it does. Why is that so?

Because the proximity sensor for the iPhone is at the top of the screen. For the black iPhone, you need to shine your iPhone under strong sunlight before the ‘spots’ appear. It detects whether something is blocking it.

If you were to accidentally cover the sensor and Siri is summoned unwillingly, will it be a pleasant experience? No! That is why Apple integrated proximity sensor with Accelerometer – or perhaps the gyroscope. It detects your motion. If you lift your hand from your chest up as if you were using it, Siri will be summoned. If you lift it up from your chin level. Chances are, Siri won’t appear.

I hope this information is helpful for you. Enjoy!

How To Prevent Siri From Working While Your iPhone 4S Is Locked?

On the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4, there’s voice recognition to dial a number, play a certain album, ask the time, but that’s about it. However, on the iPhone 4S, Siri is introduced. Siri is a personal assistant for your iPhone that do more things than the normal voice recognition like, send a text message with a certain content, open a website, search for results, set a reminder.

Take a few moment and think about it. What if someone grabs hold of your iPhone and decided to use it to call someone. You end up having to foot the bill. Or imagine someone voting for their favorite idol via a text message. That won’t be nice.

But Apple had thought of that too! That’s why they’ve implemented a ‘De-Activate Siri‘ option in Settings. Go to ‘Settings > General > Password Lock. That will do the trick. By doing so, lock your phone and nobody can activate Siri anymore. [Remember to put the activation time as little as possible to make it more secure].

Enjoy!

What Exactly Is Siri? [iPhone 4S’ Main Feature]

If you rather skip the texts and get right down to the list of commands, click the link and it will jump right into it.

If you ask Siri who is she, she’ll tell you that she’s a humble personal assistant. Indeed, she’s more than just a robot, listening to your commands, trying to find the specific code in your voice to trigger the action. She seem to understand what you’re trying to get at. And if it’s within her means, she’ll do just what you tell her.

Siri is your virtual intelligent assistant that helps you get things done while you’re out and about, just by asking. It uses natural language processing to answer questions, make recommendations, and perform actions by delegating requests to an expanding set of web services.

Siri is the first public product by its makers, who are focused on artificial intelligence applications. Siri used to be a standalone company but was acquired by Apple on April 28, 2010.

Since It was acquired, Siri and Apple had been working very hard to integrate the app into iOS. It’s so deeply integrated, you wouldn’t believe it. Without further ado, let’s see the commands shall we?
